Instructional Staff Profiles
My interest in Spanish began at a young age when I traveled to Venezuela to visit close friends. In college, I studied abroad in Mexico and then lived in Sevilla, Spain for five years. I love to explore other parts of the world and hope to instill an interest in the Spanish language and the richly diverse cultures of Latin America/Spain to my students. My interests are spending time with my family, traveling, geography, history, reading, and attending Broadway shows.
Psychology & World History
I was born in Gary, Indiana but grew up in Naples, Florida. I received my BA in Secondary Social Science Education from Florida Gulf Coast University. In 2011, I joined the Oasis family. I am thankful for the opportunity that I have had to teach here as well as sponsor the National Honor Society. When I am not at school and have the distinct pleasure of spending my time with my two favorite people, my husband James and my son, also James.
My birthplace is Delaware, but have been in Florida since I was one, so I think I’m grandfathered in as a native Floridian. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Education from Stetson University, and this will be my 8th year teaching. Before rejoining the teaching profession I did environmental monitoring for the government and was a chemist for Tropicana’s Research and Development Department. I am happily married for almost 20 years to my husband Stephen, who is an IT manager for Lee County Court Administration. We have three amazing children, Joshua, Alyssa and Terra. Joshua, a recent graduate of Oasis, will be serving in the Navy as a firefighter. Alyssa, a sophomore, is our theater girl. And Terra is a freshman who enjoys playing her saxophone and competing in Odyssey of the Mind. I am ecstatic to share the wonderful world of chemistry with the students here at Oasis, and look forward to working with your family.
I was born and raised right here in Southwest Florida and plan to live my life here. I graduated from Edison State College with my Bachelor's degree in Education. I was married in 2013 to my best friend. We have one little boy and another on the way. I truly enjoy teaching all of my students in grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. This is my second year at Oasis High School (4th year teaching) and I could not be happier anywhere else!

I am going into my 18th year of teaching and find there is never a dull moment. I spent almost ten years focusing on middle school math, and then took another 8 in the elementary setting. I am very excited to be joining what I know is a great team of dedicated and talented professionals here at Oasis High School as the French and Theatre teacher. I am originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and lived in Melbourne, Australia as well as Mynydd Isa, North Wales in the UK before moving to the United States, most recently spending 16 years in Vermont where I taught for ten years and attended the University of Vermont. I traded the snowy northeast for the sunny Florida beaches and feel like I'm on vacation when I see the beautiful palm trees in the middle of winter, but knowing I live here and don't have to fly back to the ice and snow makes me incredibly happy. I love hockey, of course, (allez les Habs) and all sports as well as traveling and living life to the fullest. My husband is from Morocco and my grown daughter lives in New Hampshire, giving me an opportunity to still have white Christmases and ski!
I am thrilled to be teaching for my 2nd full year at Oasis High School. Prior to teaching in Florida I taught in a small private school in southeastern Massachusetts for 22 years. Before that wonderful experience I lived on a kibbutz in Israel for two years where I was allowed the privilege of working with three and four year old children.
English & Computer Science
I grew up in Sycamore, IL, an hour outside of Chicago. It was there that I met my beautiful and talented wife Charity when we were only 15 years old. We have been together ever since. I attended Northern Illinois University and studied both computer science and English. I spent my last year of college at the University of Oxford where I studied linguistics. My wife and I joined the teaching staff here at Oasis in 2012 and we have loved every minute of our time here since! I have had the privilege of building the entire computer science department and it continues to grow each year. I teach multiple levels of computer programming and Microsoft Office certification courses.
I have had the honor of teaching Culinary Arts at Oasis High School since 2012. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University. Go Huskies! My husband and I moved to Cape Coral three years ago to become teachers at Oasis... and we've never looked back. We love it here! Before teaching, I owned a catering and personal chef business. I love sharing my passion for food with my students. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going on dates with my husband, cooking, eating, reading, traveling, and laying out by the pool.
Hailing from a snowy, small farming community in southwest Michigan, I earned my bachelor’s degree from Albion College. During my first career in sales, I realized my true desire was to teach, and I returned to college to pursue my dream. I have never looked back, and have been teaching English and coaching basketball and track and field since 2000. My wife Michelle will be joining the pediatric oncology team at Golisano Children’s Hospital. Our blended family includes our four children: Nick, J, Courtney and Natalie, all of whom are athletes. The older three are grown and on their own, scattered the world over (France, Louisville and San Diego), and Natalie will be a 7th grader at Oasis Middle School. When not teaching and coaching, I enjoy playing music and have been a professional bass guitarist, singer, and songwriter for over thirty years. An avid sports fan, I will continue to cheer for my MSU Spartans, Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Lions from sunny Florida! I am excited to become part of the Oasis team. Go Sharks!
